Today our MelaTools SSM trial protocol paper was accepted for publication by BMJ open. Well done to Katie Mills, the lead author!

We are now starting the 12-month (final) follow-up for the phase II MelaTools Skin Self-Monitoring trial. We are quite excited about this – in a couple of months we will have finished data collection!

Cancer in primary care conference -Ca-PRI

We are looking forward to this exciting and very relevant conference held in Edinburgh this April. Dr Fiona Walter and Prof Jon Emery will be leading a workshop on "Developing cancer risk assessment tools for use in primary care", using some of the MelaTools programme findings.

Recruitment for the phase II MelaTools Skin Self-Monitoring trial has now closed

Recruitment for the phase II MelaTools Skin Self-Monitoring trial has now closed. The research nurses at the Clinical Research Network (CRN) in the East of England have done a wonderful job recruiting 238 participants to our trial.

Dr Juliet Usher-Smith, Prof Jon Emery, Dr Fiona Walter and colleagues have recently published the MelaTools Q findings about identifying people at higher risk of melanoma from primary care, and recruiting in England, Wales and Scotland, in the British Journal of Dermatology.
